Woods & Water

Woods & Water

from 19.00

Fresh flowers are ephemeral. The moment they are plucked, life begins to fade. Some people make water elixirs to capture their essence. I make photographs.

One day while walking to a the beach on Lopez Island, I found Pieris in the woods and the bronze Iris on an embankment near the ocean. They appeared to belong together. When back in the studio they fit perfectly into an inkwell, also recently acquired in an antique shop on nearby San Juan Island. This arrangement was the first I did as part of the Garden Variety series. It reminds me that beauty, while often singular, finds company in that of others.
